goal of a pre-launch startup:

• launch quickly (MVP)
• get initial customers
• talk to customers and get feedback
• iterate (improve the product)

key: solving a hair on problem fire! so customers were happy to try a crappy startup product

Learning from customers is easier with an MVP than without (MVP is better than just a survey)

hack for building an MVP quickly:

• time box your spec, build in 3 weeks, so you can’t do every feature
• write down your spec
• cut your spec
• don’t fall in love with your MVP!
  • fall in love with customers and problem
